Newstead 2021 has helped our community create and sustain many of Newstead’s great projects: our Community Plan; Renewable Newstead; Community Garden; Arts Hub; Walks & Wheels; Newstead Open Studios; Talking Fire.

So come along to the 2021/2022 AGM for Newstead 2021 Inc on Thursday 29 Sep at 6pm and find out what we have achieved over the last 12 months. Venue: Newstead Community Centre meeting room (at the back of the building). We’ll let everyone know about the agenda and reports at least 2 weeks beforehand.

Some of our office-bearers will be stepping down at the AGM, so it’s time to put your hand up! Newstead 2021 is on the hunt for a new President and Secretary. Interested? Contact Newstead 2021 (info@newstead2021.org) for a chat with Genevieve Barlow (President) or Jane Lean (Secretary) who hold those positions now. Steve Muller, a newcomer to Newstead, has kindly agreed to nominate as Treasurer and take over that role from Geoff Park.

If you are not already a member of Newstead 2021, please join. It’s free, but you do need to fill in a membership form each year. So if you can’t recall filling one in recently, it’s probably time to renew. Download a membership form,  or if you need a hard copy form, please email Jane Lean – info@newstead2021.org – and she will send you one.

The candidates, Damien Kingsbury, Hilton Hazeltine and Matt Driscoll, vying for election as the Loddon Ward representative on Mount Alexander Shire Council addressed an online forum hosted by Newstead 2021 Inc on Oct 7, 2020.

Each explained why he wanted to be our local government councillor.

Our thanks to the candidates, our host N2021 Inc President Sharon Fraser and conversation manager Chris Johnston. We wish the candidates success and thank them for their willingness to represent our ward.

Our thanks also to Cr John Nieman who has represented Loddon Ward for the past three years and is stepping down.

Make sure you complete your postal vote. Ballot packs were mailed to voters on October 8. Voting closes 6pm , Friday Oct 23. Results will be declared Friday Nov 13, 2020.

NEWSTEAD 2021 INC.

Notice of Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2018-2019

Notice is given that Newstead 2021 Inc will hold its Annual General Meeting at 7pm on Tuesday 19th November 2019 at the Newstead Community Garden, Layard St, Newstead VIC 3462.

All community members are welcome to attend. Voting at the AGM is restricted to members of the Association. Membership is open to residents of Newstead and the immediate surrounds, who support N2021’s Statement of Purposes. Membership forms are available from the Association’s website  https://newstead2021.wordpress.com/about/

Nominations for the Committee of the Association are welcome prior to or at the meeting.

Please bring a chair or rug and some food to share.

The ordinary business of the meeting will be:

  1. to confirm the minutes of the previous AGM of the Association and of any special general meeting held since then;
  2. to receive and consider –
    1. the annual report of the Committee on the activities of the Association during the preceding financial year; and
    2. the financial statements of the Association for the preceding financial year submitted by the Committee in accordance with Part 7 of the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012 (Vic);
    3. other reports from the Committee / its sub-Committee(s) upon the transactions and affairs of the Association during the preceding financial year;
  3. to elect officers of the Association and ordinary members of the Committee;
  4. to confirm that the annual subscription fee / joining fee for membership of the Association for 2019/20 shall remain nil.

The special business of the meeting will be:

  1. to discuss the Association’s current Statement of Purposes and Rules with a view to ensuring that these remain accurate and reflective of the intentions of the Association into the future;
  2. to discuss Registrations and endorsements that may benefit the Association, its purposes and activities, including registration as a charity and tax endorsements (e.g. tax exemption, deductible gift recipient status, etc);
  3. to acknowledge that 2020 is N2021’s ten-year anniversary, and to discuss if we would should celebrate and, if so, how?
  4. to consider any other business arising.

PROXIES

A member entitled to attend and vote at the AGM may appoint a person to attend and vote at the meeting as the member’s proxy. The appointment of a proxy must be in writing and signed by the member making the appointment. The form appointing the proxy must be given to the Chairperson of the AGM before or at the commencement of the meeting, or prior to the AGM by post or electronically. A form appointing a proxy sent by post or electronically is of no effect unless it is received by the Association no later than 24 hours before the commencement of the meeting.

2017 AGM

December 19, 2017

Our 2017 AGM was held on Sunday the 12th November, at the railway station, in the midst of the Newstead Historical Society’s then exhibition. Dave Stratton made the journey out to join us, and the meeting was both positive and a good summary of all the was achieved in the past year.

Andrew Skeoch, president for the last two years, announced he was stepping down, and a new committee was elected as:
President: Genevieve Barlow (temporary acting)
Secretary: Saide Gray
Treasurer: Kyle Richardson
with a general committee of:
David Stratton, Geoff Park, Ros Hart, Andrew Skeoch, Gordon Dowell, Don Culvenor, Gen Barlow, Gary Gibson & Saide Gray

2016 AGM

December 18, 2016

Our new councillor, John Nieman (Nemo), joined current and newer members of Newstead 2021 for our AGM on Sunday, 27th November.

We gathered on the platform of the railway station as the sun set, to hear reports on the association’s activities through the year, get to know Nemo, and discuss matters for the future.

Nemo conducted the election of the executive for 2017, which voted for the following:
President: Andrew Skeoch
Secretary: Saide Gray
Treasurer: Kylie Richardson
and committee members (reporting on specific projects):
Pat Fensham, Don Culvenor (for Renewable Newstead), Dave Stratton (for Rocket Science), Gen Barlow (for Community Garden), Ros Hart, Neal Bethune (for affordable housing), Geoff Park, Andrew Skeoch (for Arts Hub) and Gary Gibson.

2015 AGM Minutes

NEWSTEAD COMMUNITY GARDEN 21st November 2015

Meeting commenced at 5pm

Present: Mary Park, Karly Smith, Andrew Skeoch (Chair), Dave Stratton, Ros Hart, Saide Gray, Gary Gibson, Geoff Park, Genevieve Barlow.

Apologies: Janet Barker, Don Culvenor, Sarah Koschak, Kylie Richardson.

Guests: Monique Kerr, Lachie Park

Our guest speakers Monique and Lachie gave terrific presentations on their experiences growing up in Newstead, their travels and adventures since leaving school and some observations on the benefits and challenges of growing up in a small village regional setting.

Andrew thanked them on behalf of N2021 and gave them a small gift.

President – Andrew Skeoch nominated by Saide Gray, seconded Genevieve Barlow. Elected.

Treasurer – Kylie Richardson nominated by Geoff Park, seconded by Andrew Skeoch. Elected.

Secretary – Saide Gray nominated by Geoff Park, seconded by Gary Gibson. Elected.

The following ordinary Committee were elected: Genevieve Barlow, Mary Park, David Stratton, Gary Gibson, Ros Hart, Geoff Park and Don Culvenor.

The meeting closed at 7.27pm
